CareSouth/University of Wollongong Foster Care Research Project

CareSouth is involved in a number of research projects.

A five year research project looking at identifying, attractingn and retaining successful foster parents. The project commenced in February 2008 and will conclude in January 2013.

Volunteer Carers’ Motivations Research Project – University of Wollongong School of Psychology and CareSouth’s Aunties & Uncles Program

As part of a post-graduaate research project overseen by Dr Gerard Stoyles, this research looks at volunteer carers’ motivations to provide respite care to children from vulnerable families. The project commenced in 2009 and is expected to continue in some capacity.

MOU South Coast Aboriginal Medical Service and CareSouth

CareSouth has a ‘relationship of support’ with the SCAMS. In particular CareSouth provides assistance with Accreditation, SCMAS gives CareSouth assistance and advice with managing cultural issues, psychologists from both organisations work collaboratively and the assessment and training for foster carers is combined.
