Accredition CS Congratulates SCMSAC

CareSouth Congratulates South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation on Achieiving Accreditation CareSouth will today congratulate the South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (SCMSAC) on gaining accreditation for its Out of Home Care program at a celebratory morning tea.

CareSouth CEO, Janenne Wells. will present SCMSAC CEO Mark King with a framed map of Aboriginal nations to mark the achievement. “We offer our congratulations to everyone at the South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation – Children and Family Services. The accreditation is such a wonderful achievement and will certainly strengthen the support network for children and young people in our community,” said Ms Wells. The South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation is only the second Aboriginal agency to be accredited for out-of-home care through the NSW Children’s Guardian Accreditation Quality Improvement Program.

Aunty Iris McLeod, SCMSAC Senior Manager of Children and Family Services thanked CareSouth for their support throughout the accreditation process. “CareSouth has been extremely supportive throughout the entire process. We are very proud of this accreditation, particularly our own progress in the areas of casework and advocacy for children and young people in out-of-home-care,” said Aunty Iris. CareSouth and the South Coast Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation have a Memorandum of Understanding, which benefits both organisations. In return for CareSouth’s support, SCMSAC assists and advises CareSouth to ensure that its services to members of the Aboriginal community are culturally appropriate, flexible and responsive to meeting their individual needs and preferences. “We look forward to further developing the relationship between our organisations. We currently combine the assessment and training of foster carers as well as provide our psychologists with an opportunity to work together,” said CareSouth’s CEO Janenne Wells.
