Your rights

CareSouth’s Privacy Policy states that no person will be discriminated against or victimised because they make a complaint.

What are your rights

Children and young people in care or  supported accommodation have a right to:

  • Be protected from harm
  • Feel safe and secure
  • Get support and services to help you develop or be able to live independently
  • Be kept informed
  • Have a say in decisions that affect you
  • Privacy and time alone
  • Confidentiality
  • Complain if you are worried about something
  • Maintain your own culture, religion and language
  • Be supported by the ‘least intrusive service’ available.

Getting Respect

It is easier to get your rights respected if you act responsibly. For example:

  • Being kind to and respecting carers, workers and other kids
  • Not hurting other people
  • Not threatening other people
  • Looking after the place you’re living in
  • Looking after the things you use or are given.

How to Complain

If you have a complaint or are concerned about something:

Talk to your caseworker

If you can’t talk to them or you are not satisfied, talk to their supervisor or Manager

If you are still not satisfied you may ask to speak to the CEO or a member of the Board or may write to the Board.
