Supervised Contact provides a safe and secure environment for contact between children in Out of Home Care and their birth families. The worker usually transports children form their carers to and from the contact venue, supervises the contact, and provides the referring agency with a written report on the interactions and the behaviours observed. Our focus is to provide a safe environment for families to spend quality time together.
The Program also provides transport for children for a variety of reasons, including: transport to and from school, to a special event, respite, school holiday camps or to an unsupervised contact venue.
The Supervised Contact Program is run from the CareSouth Wollongong Office, but has casual staff from Sydney down to Ulludulla on the South Coast. The Supervised Contact Team consists of a Program Manager, a Coordinator and an Assistant Coordinator. We have a pool of 40 casual staff who provide the supervised contacts and /or transports when requested.
CareSouth has a fully functioning contact/play area, with toilet facilities and toys, this is located at the CareSouth Wollongong Office. This has proven handy as a last minute wet weather alternative. The play room can be booked through the Supervised Contact Team on 02 4225 7588. There is no charge for the rental of this room if Supervised Contact is facilitating the contact or transport. Contacts are often held in public places—the venue is generally stipulated by the referrer.
