Everyday Emerging Leaders Program

This year CareSouth launched our inaugural Everyday Emerging Leaders program to identify and develop future leadership talent across the organisation. Emerging Leaders is a flexible, work-based learning program that supports staff considering a career in management and leadership. It provides successful applicants with mentoring and module-based learning and a formal qualification in business leadership. In June, 20 staff across the business delivered presentations to CareSouth’s Executive Leadership Group outlining their passions, skills and leadership goals linked to CareSouth’s key success factors. Seven staff were chosen to be a part of the Emerging Leaders team and each staff member nominated a mentor from CareSouth’s Senior Leadership Group to help facilitate their 12-month leadership journey.

Those chosen to be part of the Emerging Leaders program are:

  • Tayla Arneman from Berkeley’s Human Resources team, with Community Relations & Marketing Manager Rachel Foster as her mentor
  • Codie Harrington from Deniliquin’s Foster Care team, with Shoalhaven Out-of-Home Care Manager Chris Stubbs as her mentor
  • Stefanie King, Executive Assistant to the CEO, with Southern NSW/ACT Manager Kim Bool as her mentor
  • Lisa Chorlton from the Disabilities team in Nowra, with the Chief Financial Officer Renee Schott as her mentor
  • Kate Van Seumeren from Berkeley’s Out-of-Home Care team, with Illawarra Regional Manager Bronwyn Howlett as her mentor
  • Jennifer Toms from Shoalhaven Youth Support Service with Policy and Research Manager Karen Wilcox as her mentor
  • Kristine Williams from the Nowra Disabilities team with Shoalhaven Regional Manager Michael Mason as her mentor

The training incorporates a formal program called the Challenge of Management which will be delivered in partnership with Leadership Management Australia. Once staff have completed the 12 modules they will receive a Certificate IV in Leadership Management.

The Everyday Emerging Leadership Program is designed to inspire, challenge, enable and encourage a thought-provoking year-long leadership development journey. The mutually beneficial program gives staff the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills while helping CareSouth to identify and develop potential talent across the organisation, thereby engaging and retaining staff.
