CareSouth’s caring communities continue to amaze

“We’re continually blown away by the generosity of others. It’s so good to know that CareSouth is supported by the communities we work within, just as much as we support them,” says Tracy Mayo, CareSouth Executive Officer – Practice. It comes off the back of CareSouth receiving two donations from local businesses this month.

Our team in Wagga Wagga welcomed staff from Raine & Horne Wagga, who hand-delivered a cheque for $15,000 to their office. This generous contribution was three-years in the making. Grant Harris, Director & Licensee in Charge, Raine & Horne Wagga Wagga, made the decision in 2021 to donate his commission on the sale of a property to charity. Upon learning all the ways that CareSouth supports children and young people in the region, they decided where the donation would go. Unfortunately, the sale fell through. However, Grant was true to his word. Raine & Horne Wagga re-sold the property this year, so he reached back out to CareSouth to make the donation.

According to Grant, it’s a ‘small token of Raine & Horne’s gratitude’ for what CareSouth does for the community. The team at Raine & Horne Wagga expressed their passion for supporting organisations that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

“We are thankful that Raine & Horne Wagga recognised that our organisations have shared values, including strengthening community bonds, and decided to make this generous donation to CareSouth,” says Dana McLay, CareSouth Regional Manager Wagga Wagga.

The funds will support CareSouth’s Wagga-based foster care program and Intensive Therapeutic Support Homes (ITCs). There are plans to use the donation on therapeutic resources, such as weighted blankets that help children manage anxiety, and on recreational activities that encourage social engagement and personal growth.

“We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Grant Harris and Raine & Horne Wagga. Your kindness will make a real difference to vulnerable children and young people in our community,” says Dana.

Nowra-based chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing business NowChem recently donated a range of useful products like baby shampoo, moisturiser and lice treatment to support families part of CareSouth’s Family Preservation program.

“Every type of donation makes a difference to the families we support. Health and baby care products can be expensive, through donations like this, we can ensure that families going through a challenging time can still access these essentials.”

“We want to give a big shout out to the individuals and businesses in our communities who continue to support the work we do. We are so thankful,” says Tracy.
