Foster and Kinship Care Week. A reminder of moments that matter.

There are over 200 foster carer households across CareSouth’s footprint. Every single day these families make a world of difference in the lives of children and young people in their communities.

This Foster and Kinship Care Week (31 August – 6 September 2025) we celebrate these individuals and their choice to dedicate their time to moments that matter. These moments – like holding a newborn, teaching a kid to ride a bike or watching an anxious teen build the courage to try new things – are treasured for a lifetime by children, young people, carers and everyone who is a part of them.

Watch Deniliquin long-term carer Candice’s powerful story. She reflects on her moments that matter and the growth that she has seen in the three children who have come into her care:

“We would like to thank our dedicated foster carers for the ongoing support, kindness and time they provide to those in their care. Our foster carers teach young people what it means to feel heard, understood and loved. We are so grateful to be part of their foster care journey.”
– Renee Knight, CareSouth Executive Officer.
